How New Life Stories and a mother's voice helped her children learn

While in prison, Salimah Sukar feared that she would remain trapped in a cycle of crime, and separated from her children.

Worse, Salimah  fretted that her children would fall behind at school while she was unable to be there to support them.

New Life Stories helped her on both counts.  Our Befriender Volunteers visited her in prison to help her prepare her for life once she was released.

Moreover, our Learning Friends Volunteers visited her children to read to them, improving their language and social skills.

They also brought their mothers’ presence into the childrens' lives once more, by playing voice recordings of Salimah reading a story to them.

Watch our video to see the difference this made to Salimah and her children.
