Our Programmes

Our Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) is our core programme, developed over more than five years and grounded in a family-centred, trauma-informed and systemic approach. As one of the early adopters of systemic practice in this space, we recognise that a child’s well-being is shaped not just by individual circumstances, but by the relationships and systems around them.
To create lasting change, we work across the whole family system, supporting the child, their caregiver and their parent in prison, and ensuring continuity of care from incarceration through to reintegration. This approach strengthens the connections that matter most, while addressing the root causes that place children at risk.
FSP is delivered through three key areas. Befriending pairs children with trained volunteers who provide a consistent and trusted presence. In Care supports incarcerated parents through parenting workshops and guided sessions to rebuild relationships with their children. Family Care works with caregivers to strengthen the home environment and improve family stability.
By working across individuals, families and systems, we are not only supporting families through difficult moments, but contributing to a broader shift towards more coordinated and effective support. This helps improve child well-being, strengthen family relationships and reduce the risk of intergenerational incarceration, so every child has a fairer start to life.

Mama’s Bae
Mama’s Bae supports incarcerated pregnant and postpartum mothers during a critical window that shapes both maternal well-being and a child’s start in life. Grounded in a trauma-informed and relational approach, the programme provides consistent support from pregnancy through reintegration, helping mothers cope with separation, rebuild confidence and reconnect with their children.
By focusing on early motherhood within incarceration, Mama’s Bae addresses a key gap in the system. Strengthening maternal stability and early parent-child bonding leads to healthier outcomes for children and reduces longer term risks associated with trauma and disrupted attachment.

First Connect
First Connect is our upstream pilot launched in 2026, designed to support families at the point of arrest, when disruption and uncertainty are at their highest. Families are referred within the first 24 hours and receive early support to stabilise their situation, navigate immediate needs and reduce the impact on children.
By stepping in early, First Connect strengthens coordination across the system and connects families to longer term support pathways. This early intervention helps prevent challenges from escalating, ensuring families are supported from the very beginning of their journey.
